About

People's Republic of China (PRC) 中华人民共和国 is the world's most populous country in the world, with a population of 1.4 billion. Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometres. It is one of the world's first civilizations and all all started around 2,000 B.C. as the Xia 夏 dynasty in the fertile basin of the Yellow River in the North China Plain. Modern China is governed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the state exercises jurisdiction over four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Chongqing) and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

China's landscape is vast, ranging from the GobiDeserts and Taklamakan Deserts in the arid north-west to the subtropical forests in the wetter south. The Himalaya Mountain Ranges separate China from much of South and Central Asia.
